The Voices in My Head
The clamor
The noise
It is never ending
As they fight for dominance
The heated exchange
The harsh words
The hold out of cookies
As you strive to win
Against the voices in your head
The pouting
The silence
It is never ending
As you fight for dominance
The standoff at ten paces
The silent treatment
The battle for the words
As you strive to write
For the voices in your head
The noise
It is never ending
As they fight for dominance
The heated exchange
The harsh words
The hold out of cookies
As you strive to win
Against the voices in your head

What Kind of Book Are You?
KB put this on her blog, so I decided to try it. Imagine my surprise when I am the type of books I write... :)
You Are Fantasy / Sci Fi
You have an amazing imagination, and in your mind, all things are possible.
You are open minded, and you find the future exciting. You crave novelty and progress.
Compared to most people, you are quirky and even a bit eccentric. You have some wacky ideas.
And while you may be a bit off the wall, there's no denying how insightful and creative you are.

Tuned Up Tuesdays: Flash Fiction
The air rushed through her lungs as she fell through the sky. What would happen when she hit the ground? Would she bounce? Would she survive or just break all the bones in her body? There had to be a way to survive this fall. She just had to think of a way. Every time she jumped on the trampoline these thoughts went through her head. Let's see if I can jump higher next time, she giggled as she bounced back into the air.

Flash Fiction: Family Conflict
KB has said I should try my hand at this, so here is my first attempt at flash fiction. Let me know what you think:
The sound of flesh hitting flesh echoed through the house. A scream followed, high-pitched, hurting the ears, then shuffling footsteps. A screen door squeaked open and an old man shuffled out. He said over his shoulder, “I am going to tell the nurse you hit me.” An old woman stood in the doorway with a smile on her face, “Then you shouldn’t have smacked my buttocks.”

Poetry: A Blank Page
I wrote a poem, let me know what you think:
A blank page stares back at me
The words not there for me to see
The voices are loud in my mind
But refuse to be refined
A blank page stares back at me
The characters wanting to be free
They play around in my brain
But refuse to be restrained
A blank page stares back at me
Until finally a word will be
The voices want to be heard
Until the characters sing like a bird
A blank page stares back at me
The words not there for me to see
The voices are loud in my mind
But refuse to be refined
A blank page stares back at me
The characters wanting to be free
They play around in my brain
But refuse to be restrained
A blank page stares back at me

It is illegal to lie down on the sidewalk in Reno, NV
So if you are having a sit-in, then don't lay down if you get tired. :)

This one is a doozie
In Rochester, Michigan, All bathing suits must have been inspected by the head of police.
Okay, let's all parade down to the chief of police and let him inspect the bathing suits, don't forget the guys too.

More Dumb Laws
In Kalamazoo, Michigan:
It is against the law to serenade your girlfriend.
So guys, no singing in the streets. :) Obviously that is not a good way to get out of the dog house...try flowers.

The next stupid law
No person shall throw an abandoned hoop skirt into any street or on any sidewalk, under penalty of a five- dollar fine for each offense.
So, I guess this means if hoops skirts ever come back into style then we better be careful with them. No hankie-pankie in the streets.... :)

Stupid Laws in Michigan
Here is a fun one and it helps with the previous post...
It is illegal for a man to scowl at his wife on Sunday.
So the wife can get her hair cut on Sunday and the man can't scowl at her or they can sue each other. :)
Makes sense to me.

Stupid Laws
A woman isn’t allowed to cut her own hair without her husband’s permission.
Can you imagine the husband that would file charges against his wife that cut her hair????
What is the woman tried to file charges against the man???
What are your thoughts?

Replacement Windows
I got the funniest email today and I just had to share. :)
REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive double-pane energy efficient kind, and today, I got a call from the contractor who installed them. He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I still hadn't paid for them. Hellloooo,............just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid. So, I told him just what his fast talking sales guy had told me last year, that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves! Helllooooo? It's been a year! I told him. There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just hung up. He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.
I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Stop the Author's Guild and Google from STEALING your Books!
http://www.authorsguild.org/advocacy/articles/settlement-resources.html
The Author's Guild and Google settled a class action suit brought by the Author's Guild against Google. Google has been copying books from the libraries whether they had copyrights or not and making them available to the public. The Author's Guild decided they could represent all the authors in the world and sued them. They settled and unless you (the author) opt out, Google has permission to copy your book onto their website if your book has been out of print for one (1) year. According to copyright law, books are under copyright for 70 years after the author's death. This settlement makes that null and void.
It is outrageous that the Author's Guild thinks that they can represent all of the authors whether or not they are a member of the Author's Guild. It is outrageous that Google thinks they can scan copyright books and make them available for free without any repercussions. It is also outrageous that the judge actually agreed to all of this.
I would recommend to everyone that they go to Google and determine if their book is on their site and if it is, send them a DMCA Take Down Notice. Here is the link to Google Books to find out if your book is listed on their site.

Any suggestions on how to handle this would be appreciated!

16th Birthday Party
My daughter has decided for her 16th birthday party to have an......
ALIEN Theme, not jewelry, tiaras, flowers, nothing like that, but aliens from outer space.
Only my daughter could come up with something like this.
We did the invitations today. Here is what the invitation states:
Earthling(s)
You are invited to the
Homosapien Extermination Project (this has a line through it)
16th Birthday Party
For
XXXXXXX
Hosted by the invading (Invading has a line through it)
Nice alien forces
At the house with the space ship
hovering over the yard
We are going to hang planets from the ceiling, place alien posters on the wall and put black gossamer star material on the walls. If any one has any other suggestions they will be appreciated

Books
What are some good books you have read lately? Or some favorite authors that you enjoy reading?
Here are some of mine:
Books
Packing Heat - it is a fun, FBI suspense book, I know it sounds like an oxymoron. But it is good.
Lavender Morning - it was the new one by Jude Devereaux
I haven't read a lot recently, but here are my favorite authors:
Authors
Patricia Briggs
Christine Feehan
Karen Moning
Catherine Coulter
Iris Johanneson ( I never remember the spelling of her last name)
I am hoping that by reading different types of books, I will be able to get back into writing. My Molly book is slowly coming along. I am working on possible titles, so if anyone has suggestions, I would love them. :)
